Sandy Lavallart nos platica un poco sobre Kwoon y su nuevo EP, The Guillotine Show.
En este momento, ¿Cómo describes a Kwoon? ¿Qué es Kwoon?
Kwoon es un lugar donde todo es triste y hermoso. La Melancolía es la felicidad de estar triste. Kwoon sigue ese camino.
Al escuchar The Guillotine Show, ¿qué sientes?
Es difícil decir lo que sentimos con nuestra propia música. Algo más poderoso que el otro disco, podría decir, con el mismo “toque Kwoon”.
Sobre los logros de este disco, ¿fue difícil conseguirlo? ¿Fue experimentar?
He escrito los temas alrededor de tres meses, en busca de algo más sexi e indie. El post-rock fue en nuestros primeros discos. Ahora, estamos buscando algo más potente. No me gusta mantener el mismo sonido todo el tiempo.
¿Cuál es tu canción favorita del disco y por qué?
“Bird”. Porque es una canción muy personal, tiene algunas letras que he escrito sobre mi salud, el año pasado, cuando vi la muerte acercarse. Una horrible pesadilla, pero algo real. Y por la esperanza, las cosas parecen estar mejor hoy.
¿En dónde te inspiras para obtener The Guillotine Show, el arte del disco, las canciones?
Solo en mi apartamento, al aire libre mirando las nubes con unas cervezas… Las cosas están llegan a mi cabeza. A veces, cuando estoy durmiendo, mi cerebro me dio un regalo, me levanto con unos bellos sonidos en mi cabeza. Así que me levanto a grabar una muestra para no olvidarlo.
Cuando no es Kwoon, ¿qué otras bandas te gusta escuchar?
Blonde Redhead, Mogwai, Patrick Watson, Arcade Fire, la música clásica.
¿Qué pasa con The Guillotine Show? ¿Qué hay en torno al show?
Una acción muy impactante, decapitar una cabeza con hermosas y tranquilas canciones. Hoy en día la gente está consumiendo cosas desagradables en la televisión, como programas donde se puede ver a gente teniendo sexo, ves drogas, como engañan en vivo, y todo con la esperanza de que nunca les pasará a ellos. The Guillotine Show es un reality de televisión donde se puede ver a la gente ser ejecutada en vivo. Creo que es un promocional estúpido, pero la televisión va en ese sentido, tal vez este tipo de espectáculo podría suceder un día.
Si pudieras decapitar a alguien, ¿quién será? ¿Qué sería? ¿Un sentimiento? ¿Una persona? ¿Una acción?
Alguien que perturba a un niño no debería existir. Pero como he dicho antes, The Guillotine Show es más que una imagen virtual de la estupidez humana en crecimiento. No quiero matar a nadie.
En un concierto en vivo, ¿cómo te sientes? ¿Cómo absorbe la música el público?
Cuando estamos en el escenario, estamos en un trance perfecto. La música y la multitud nos dan energía hasta que termina el espectáculo.
¿Dónde es el mejor lugar para escuchar a Kwoon?
Depende de lo que sientas, pero sobre todo con audífonos, solo, en un paisaje espectacular, en la oscuridad.

How do you describe, KWOON right, now? Who is Kwoon?
Kwoon is a place where everything is sad & beautiful. Melancoly is the happiness to be sad. Kwoon follow that way.
Listening The Guillotine show, what do you feel?
Ahah, hard to say what we feel with our own music. Something more powerful than the other album i could say, with the same “Kwoon touch”
I’ve written the tracks in around 3 months, looking for something more sexy & indie. The “post-rock” was in our first albums. Now, we’re looking for something more punchy. I don’t like keeping the same sound all the time.What’s you’re favorite song of the record? and why?
“Bird”. Because it’s a very personal song with some lyrics i wrote about my health last year, when I’ve seen death coming. An horrible nightmare but something real. And because of hope, things seem to be better today.Where did you get inspired to get The Guillotine show, art and songs?
Alone in my apartment, looking at the clouds outside with some beers…Things are coming in my head.
Sometimes, when i’m sleeping, i wake up with some pretty sounds in my head, as my brain give me a gift. So i wake up and record a sample, then i don’t forget it.When you’re not listening Kwoon, which others bands you prefer?

If you have someone to decapitated, who it will be? a feeling? a person? an action?
Someone who fuck a child shouldn’t exist. But as i said before, “The Guillotine Show” is more than a virtual picture of human stupidity growing. I don’t want to kill anybodyOn a live concert, how do you feel? how gets the crowd?
When we’re on stage, we’re in perfect trance. Music and crazy crowd give us energy until the end of the show.Where is the best place to hear Kwoon?
It depends your feeling, but mostly with headphones, alone, in dramatic landscapes, in the darkness.
